CHN Staff Report

WAKEFIELD, Mass. — Massachusetts-Lowell forward Lucas Condotta has been suspended for today’s Hockey East quarterfinal Game 3 vs. Boston University, the league said.

Condotta was given a five-minute penalty for hitting BU’s Bobo Carpenter from behind; Condotta also received a game misconduct on the initial play, which happened with eight seconds remaining in Lowell’s 6-4 Game 2 win. That led to a fracas that consisted of four other players, two from each team, being given roughing majors and game misconducts — 75 penalty minutes in all on the play, and 99 in the game.

Carpenter was taken off injured, and his status for today’s game was not immediately known. Carpenter, a senior, is the Terriers’ fourth-leading goal scorer. He missed 10 games earlier this season with an injury.

Condotta, a 6-foot-1 freshman, has four goals and nine points this season in 34 games for the RiverHawks.
